Liverpool are tracking Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu, according to reports in the Italian media.
Tuttosport claim that the Frenchman, who has been capped three times by his country, is liked by Premier League clubs, with the Reds one of those weighing up a move.
Kalulu is a regular starter for Juve, but the Serie A giants are open to offers for most of their players, having missed out on Champions League qualification.
If Andoni Iraola’s side do make an approach for the 26-year-old before the transfer window closes, the Bianconeri would have to seriously consider a sale.
Kalulu is comfortable playing two positions
While the France international is ostensibly a centre-back, he actually played more times as a right-back/wingback for Juventus last season.
Liverpool could do with reinforcements in both of those areas. Ibrahima Konate’s departure for Real Madrid has left Iraola light in the middle of defence, with two inexperienced players (Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni) and an injury-prone Joe Gomez currently available to partner ageing captain Virgil van Dijk.
The problems at right-back are even more acute. Conor Bradley is still recovering from a long-term knee injury, while Jeremie Frimpong has not exactly been injury-free either. For that reason, having someone like Kalulu (who could provide cover in both positions) would be a perfect solution.

Liverpool could face a fight for his signature
Tuttosport report that Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Kalulu in action, so their involvement may complicate negotiations.
However, the Red Devils’ current priorities lie elsewhere. They are keen on signing another central midfielder as well as a left-back. That could potentially leave the way clear for sporting director Richard Hughes to make a move for the player.
