Liverpool is about to embark on the next phase of its preseason preparations under Andoni Iraola, with several young talents set to be given a platform to impress.
With the World Cup having only just finished, and players like Alexis Mac Allister and Victor Munoz having gone deep into the tournament, the Liverpool roster will look very light in experience to begin with.
But while Iraola will be made to wait to get to know some of his more senior stars, that will offer the opportunity for some younger ones to really stake a claim ahead of the next campaign. Liverpool.com has picked out three in particular to keep an eye on.
Trey Nyoni
Perhaps the most obvious young player hoping to stand out this summer is Rio Ngumoha, but Trey Nyoni shouldn't be too far behind. He is another real talent ready to make an impact.
Nyoni played a handful of games for Liverpool under Arne Slot, but he should be capable of building on that in 2026/27, unless he goes out on loan to get even more experience.

Full of poise in possession and with a Ryan Gravenberch-like elegance when he dribbles forward with the ball, Nyoni spoke recently about wanting to leave an impression this summer.
He is exactly the kind of age and profile of player that Iraola regularly developed at Bournemouth, so Nyoni will be hoping that pattern can continue in the next few months.
Will Wright
Jayden Danns has been managing his fitness again recently, and Hugo Ekitike is out for the long-term still with the Achilles injury that ended his debut season at Liverpool prematurely.
There is a spot up for grabs at number nine, as a result, and Will Wright is probably the most likely of the youngsters to be able to stake a claim at taking it.

Wright arrived last summer having had senior experience before at Salford City. Last season, he picked up a couple of injuries but really impressed for the Reds' U21s side when he was fit.
Still only 18, he is tall, quite quick, and a good finisher. Academy staff have been impressed by his development so far, and Iraola will soon get a close-up look with Alexander Isak currently on holiday.
Josh Abe
Having only just turned 16, young forward Josh Abe was the subject of lots of interest across the course of last season. Chelsea and Manchester City were among the clubs trying to sign him.
Instead, though, he saw Liverpool as the right next step for his development. Ngumoha and Nyoni are strong recent examples of there being a pathway to the senior team and going on the pre-season tour is a reward for his progress.

Abe is extremely highly regarded. The Warrington-born winger is an England international who plays on the wing, and he scored eight goals in 10 games in the U18 league last season. Given he is so young, Liverpool will be very careful with Abe. His talent, though, is undeniable.
