Liverpool’s pre-season US tour 2026: Fixtures, kit launch & how to watch

Liverpool’s pre-season schedule takes them on a three-stop tour in the United States, as Andoni Iraola gets a new era underway. Here is what to expect from the tour.

Those players who didn’t participate in the World Cup reported back for pre-season last week as the new era under Iraola got underway.

For the second time in three summers, Liverpool are heading Stateside. There will be several big names missing in the early stages, but the Reds will slowly welcome them back.

While three games in three different cities is the headline of the tour, there is plenty more to keep an eye out for.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Liverpool name 31-man travelling squad

Iraola named an initial 31-man squad for the trip across the Atlantic, although it’s really 26 players as it includes six players who are injured and highly likely to feature.

Goalkeepers: Mamardashvili, Woodman, Davies, Hall

Defenders: Gomez, Jacquet, Ndukwe, Kerkez, Tsimikas, Frimpong, Chambers, Ramsay, Scanlon

Midfielders: Szoboszlai, Jones, Elliott, Nyoni, McConnell

Forwards: Ngumoha, Chiesa, Morrison, Wright, Abe, Koumas, Sonni-Lambie

Injured: Jaros, Leoni, Bradley, Bajcetic, Endo, Ekitike

Youngster Mor Talla Ndiaye is yet to travel, but there are hopes he can link up with the squad later in the week.

Jaydan Danns (hamstring), Armin Pecsi (impending loan), Amara Nallo, Tommy Pilling and Keyrol Figueroa are notable academy names to miss out.

Will Andoni Iraola hold a press conference?

The Spaniard will hold a press conference on Liverpool’s first full day in the States and ahead of his first match against Sunderland on Saturday.

You can watch live on This Is Anfield’s YouTube channel from 9pm (BST) on Tuesday, July 21.

Iraola already spoke to the UK press at the start of pre-season, but will be expected to answer further questions about transfers, his squad needs and more.

Will any of Liverpool’s World Cup players return during the tour?

To put it simply, yes.

Ryan Gravenberch, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz are set to join the group later this week, meaning they won’t be involved in the first friendly on Saturday evening.

Virgil van Dijk and Alisson are due to return in the second week, but how involved they will be against Wrexham and Leeds remains to be seen.

Cody Gakpo, meanwhile, is unlikely to have a locked-in return date at this stage as the club continue to offer compassionate leave.

As for Alexis Mac Allister and Victor Munoz, the pair will be on their summer break for the duration of the US tour and will only report for training from around August 10.

Liverpool to unveil new away kit while in the US

Liverpool have already launched and worn their new 2026/27 home kit, and the away shirt will be the latest unveiled during the tour.

Adidas and Liverpool will combine for a launch event on July 28 in New York, ahead of the meeting against Wrexham, so keep your eyes peeled.

It’s no secret it will be white, but we’re looking forward to seeing it properly!

Which US cities are Liverpool visiting?

Liverpool are making stops in Nashville, New York, and Chicago. The club will be based in Chicago to maintain training consistency as they fly in and out for matches.

The first stop is home to MLS side Nashville SC, with a trip to the famous ground of the New York Yankees quickly following.

The Reds’ third and final stop takes them to the biggest stadium, which is home to the NFL’s Chicago Bears and MLS’ Chicago Fire.

• Sunderland: Geodis Park – Nashville. Capacity – 30,109

• Wrexham: Yankee Stadium – New York. Capacity – 47,309

• Leeds: Soldier Field – Chicago. Capacity – 61,500

Tickets are still available for all three matches.

Will there be fan events during the tour?

Yes, Liverpool will have their club ambassadors present, and the foundation’s coaches will hold clinics for local youngsters throughout the tour.

Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Phil Thompson and Natasha Dowie will all be on the trip and will attend various meet-and-greet events. Keep an eye out if you are in any of the three cities!
