Liverpool have reportedly shown interest in Barcelona striker Ferran Torres, but his performances at the World Cup has seen his value increase.
Last summer, Liverpool spent massive sums of money to sign Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike in attack. For several unavoidable reasons, they didn’t hit the heights that many had hoped, but the Reds are going again this summer.
The biggest priority this window has to be finding players in attack to provide the attacking impetus Mohamed Salah offered all on his own. There is no player, aside from Michael Olise, capable of matching what the Egyptian did at Anfield, so they need multiple players across the front line to ensure they are competitive next season.
What the Reds need is pace in wide areas, and finishers that can score the chances Florian Wirtz and co. provide next season. Liverpool appear to think Torres fits the latter profile.

It would appear as though Liverpool were admirers of Torres before his heroics in the final on Sunday, which shouldn’t surprise, as the Reds rarely act on a whim in the transfer market.
L’Equipe journalist and French football expert Loic Tanzi reports that while signing Torres was previously considered a ‘low-cost’ move, his value has exploded after the World Cup. The 26-year-old scored once and assisted once at the tournament from 1 start, which was the final.
Tanzi reports: “Luis Enrique appreciates Ferran Torres’s profile as a versatile striker, the club have expressed interest in the Spaniard.
“The deal was thought to be at a “low cost” fee before the FIFA World Cup. However, more clubs, particularly Liverpool F.C have also expressed interest in the meantime, thus increasing his price tag.”

Torres has had a more than memorable 2026 after winning La Liga with Barcelona before lifting the World Cup in New Jersey with Spain.
With 25 goals and 5 assists for club and country in 2025/26, he would be a credit to compatriot Andoni Iraola’s team if this proceeded.
