The Dallas Mavericks have signed former No. 11 overall NBA Draft pick Jett Howard to a two-way contract.
The Dallas Mavericks have added another young wing to their roster ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season.
The team officially announced the signing of guard-forward Jett Howard to a two-way contract.
To open a two-way roster spot for Howard, Dallas waived forward Tyler Smith, who was originally selected with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Howard joins Dallas after three seasons in Orlando
Howard spent the first three years of his NBA career with the Orlando Magic after being selected with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
The 22-year-old appeared in 55 games during the 2025-26 season, averaging 5.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 12.6 minutes per game.
Howard shot 41.8% from the field and a career-best 37.2% from three-point range. He also produced the best scoring performance of his NBA career last season, finishing with 30 points in a game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Across his first three NBA seasons, the 6'8" wing appeared in 133 games and averaged 4.5 points and 1.2 rebounds.
Howard also gained experience in the G League, where he averaged 18.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
Former Michigan standout gets fresh opportunity
Before entering the NBA, Howard played one season of college basketball at Michigan under his father, former NBA star and head coach Juwan Howard.
He averaged 14.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists across 29 games while shooting 36.8% from beyond the arc. Howard earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors before declaring for the NBA Draft.
The two-way agreement will allow Howard to split time between the Mavericks and their G League affiliate, the Texas Legends, as he looks to establish a consistent NBA role.
