Liverpool’s interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott could intensify following reports the 22-year-old has rejected the offer of a new contract.
Scott was named as a potential target for Liverpool at the beginning of June, with the expectation that a new midfielder is signed this summer.
While there has been little movement in that respect in the month-and-a-half since, it remains a situation which could develop later in the summer.
Bournemouth, for their part, are resolved to keep Scott and offered their No. 8 a new long-term contract amid enquiries from Arsenal, Man City and Man United.
Sky Sports‘ Mark McAdam is among those to report that the midfielder “has indicated he is not currently willing to agree new terms” despite a “number of offers” for a new deal.

Chelsea are also named as suitors but Bournemouth insist they will not sell Scott this summer despite an internal valuation of £80 million.
The midfield market has been warped this summer, with Elliot Anderson joining Man City for £116 million while Tottenham spent £100 million on Sandro Tonali and £85 million on Mateus Fernandes.
It has strengthened the position of selling clubs such as Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, who hold a similar stance when it comes to Adam Wharton.

Liverpool’s plans to sign a midfielder likely depend on the future of Curtis Jones, who is available for around £35 million and has already attracted bids from Inter Milan.
Andoni Iraola has however already communicated his desire to keep Jones beyond the final year of his contract and the Scouser could still be convinced to stay.
There are further doubts over the future of Wataru Endo while loan offers could be considered for the likes of Trey Nyoni and James McConnell.

Any decision is likely to be made after Liverpool’s tour in the United States, with Iraola able to rule over his wider squad in friendlies against Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds.
But it would be no surprise if conversations have already been held around a move for Scott, who made 89 appearances for the Spanish head coach and was a player transformed under his guidance.
That Scott has rejected the opportunity to sign a new contract at Bournemouth could open him up to a move late in the summer – though Liverpool would face competition for his signature.
