Today’s Athletic Deal Sheet is all about Aston Villa, but Chelsea feature heavily as you’d expect.

The Blues are about to buy Morgan Rogers from the Villains for £117m, and in return they might also sell some players to Unai Emery’s team. The two sides feel like they’ll be closely linked all summer.

One player mentioned in the report is Alejandro Garnacho. Villa have apparently already held talks over the possibility of signing him. “It is not clear whether they wish to pursue that further, ” is the ominous line to conclude that idea here.

Certainly he would be easy to sign, with Chelsea happy to get rid, and affordable, with the Blues probably only looking for the £40m they paid Manchester United for the Argentine a year ago. Along with Cryscensio Summerville and Ibrahim Mbaye, Garnacho is up there with the Villains’ main targets, and it will be very interesting to monitor these rumours and see if anything is sparking into life.

With so many options still on the market, Chelsea may have to be patient in this case, and wait for buyers to end up coming to them.
