Chelsea have received encouragement in their pursuit of Alex Scott after the midfielder rejected a new contract offer from Bournemouth.

The Blues remain among the leading clubs interested in Scott, alongside Arsenal and Manchester United.

Sky Sports reports that the 22-year-old has turned down Bournemouth’s proposal. The Cherries remain adamant that he is not for sale, despite his current contract having only two years left to run.

Chelsea have not submitted a formal offer, but Scott’s contract decision could place pressure on Bournemouth if extension talks remain stalled.

Chelsea remain in Alex Scott transfer race

Scott has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most highly rated young midfielders following an impressive season on the south coast.

Chelsea have tracked the former Bristol City player for several months. ReadChelsea previously reported that Bournemouth had offered Scott a new contract in an attempt to protect his value and end speculation over a summer departure.

Arsenal and Manchester United have already made initial enquiries, while Chelsea are also believed to remain among the frontrunners. Bournemouth have rejected previous approaches and could demand a fee approaching £80million.

Scott’s ability to carry possession and operate in several midfield roles may appeal to Xabi Alonso. Chelsea sold Andrey Santos to Manchester United earlier this month, although Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández remain central to Alonso’s plans.

The midfielder’s refusal to extend his stay gives interested clubs greater encouragement. However, Bournemouth can still retain Scott for another season without facing immediate pressure to sell.

Chelsea must now decide whether to formalise their interest or allow Arsenal and United to make the first move.
