Dominik Szoboszlai’s agent has responded to links on Real Madrid after he signed a new deal last week.
Szoboszlai arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2023 for a fee of £60 million when the club triggered his release clause at RB Leipzig. He signed a five-year contract at the time, tying him to the club until June 2028.

He has been on that deal since then but has now no doubt been rewarded with a significant pay boost and a long-term contract reportedly running until 2031.
Speaking to WinWin sports, his representative Matthias Esterházi was asked about Real Madrid interest
“Szoboszlai has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the Hungary coach describing it as a “dream” for the player. How did you deal with these reports?”
He responded:
“If you have a player like him, rumors about the big clubs are completely normal. As for his future, only he and I can speak formally. Ultimately, he extended his contract and that says everything about what he wanted to do, because no one forced him to extend the contract.”
He added that the fact that the Liverpool No.8 signed a new deal in the face of “meaningless rumours” should be all the proof needed on his commitment to Liverpool:
“That was the player’s wish, and that says everything about what he was also thinking in the last period when everyone was talking about meaningless rumors, so, what happened in the last few days, that’s what Dominic wanted, and that’s clear.”
Hungary did not qualify for the World Cup, and after playing virtually every minute of Liverpool’s gruelling 2025/26 campaign, Szoboszlai arrived at pre-season with deserved rest.
He was named in Liverpool’s initial 31-man USA pre-season tour squad that arrived in Chicago this week. Several more senior Liverpool stars are expected to return in the next week after their World Cup commitments.
