Former Brighton full back Tariq Lamptey has signed for Championship club QPR on a free transfer.
Lamptey, 25, left Brighton in 2025 and joined Italian Serie A club Fiorentina for around £6m but sustained an ACL injury after just two outings for the Italians.
Fiorentina and Lamptey agreed to terminate the contract and the former Chelsea man has now joined the Hoops - who finished 15th in the second tier last term - as a free agent.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted: "QPR have signed Tariq Lamptey as a free agent after he left Fiorentina, new right back joining the club."
122 appearances for Brighton
Lamptey was a popular figure at Brighton and made 122 first team appearances having joined from Chelsea for around £3m in 2020. He scored five goals with 12 assists during his time with the Seagulls
On joining QPR, Lamptey said: "I'm hardworking, I like to get up and down, a lot of energy, a lot of fun. Hopefully I’ll keep the fans on the edge of their seats. I'm tough tackling, I love one-v-ones, defensive and attacking, I just love playing the game.”
QPR CEO Christian Nourry added: "With over 100 Premier League appearances to his name at 25, there is no doubting his talent."
Lacroix to Chelsea?
Elsewhere, Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, according to BBC Sport.
However the Blues, who have already opened talks with Palace over the 26-year-old France international, will reportedly have to pay around £60million to secure his services.
Roma have submitted a fresh offer for West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, Sky Sports News reports.
However the Serie A side, whose initial bid for the Netherlands international amounted to £39m, are yet to meet the Hammers’ valuation.
Ex-Villa man on the move
Former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has joined Benfica on a season-long loan deal from Al-Nassr with a view to making a permanent £25.5m switch.
The 22-year-old Colombia international, a team-mate of Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, will spend the 2026-27 season with the Portuguese club, who have paid 6.1m Euros – around £5.2m – for his services and also negotiated a 30m Euros option to buy.
Duran, who joined Al-Nassr in a £64m switch from Villa in January 2025, told Benfica’s official website: “I’m very grateful to God, just as I said when I arrived. I’m happy! I still say that it’s the biggest club in Portugal. I’m very grateful to be here.
“I have very high expectations for my time here. I want to play well, give it my all and become a champion.”
