Chelsea’s £117m move for Morgan Rogers could be completed any day now, and it looks set to really blow the transfer market open in the Premier League this summer.

It will hand the Villains a whole lot of spending money, and Chelsea will be hoping to get some of that back. The Athletic’s report on Villa’s plan claims that Nicolas Jackson is a player who could really interest them as they look to reinforce after Rogers’ departure.

There has been some speculation that the heavy price that Chelsea have paid for Rogers is part of a “plusvalenza” deal with Villa, who have already agreed to sign someone like Jackson for an equally inflated sum, helping both parties in their FFP/PSR sums. Both teams are under UEFA settlements for overspending at the moment.

We’re not sure if there’s any truth to that – but it does seem likely that Villa are interested in Jackson. Their manager Unai Emery gave the 25 year old his breakthrough at Villareal. He’s a versatile and hard working forward who would fill in for Rogers well. Chelsea reportedly want £65m for the attacker, who spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich.

Alejandro Garnacho is listed in the same piece as another option for Villa. He would be cheaper, but perhaps less tempting as a target.
