Alexis Mac Allister's father has categorically dismissed suggestions that the Liverpool midfielder is angling for a transfer to Real Madrid.
The Argentina star featured in the side that lost 1-0 to Spain in Sunday's World Cup final, facing criticism from the Argentinian media. Claims then surfaced alleging he had informed international teammates that it was his final appearance in a Reds shirt.
Social media rumors on Monday additionally suggested that Liverpool would demand approximately £85 million ($114 million) for the former Brighton man, who turns 28 in December, should Real Madrid launch a bid for him during this summer's transfer window.
Nevertheless, the player's father, Carlos, has now dismissed those claims, maintaining his son is solely focused on an end-of-season break before reuniting with Andoni Iraola, his new head coach on Merseyside, next month.
"We have not spoken to any Real Madrid official. What is being circulated about us holding talks with Real Madrid is not true," Mac Allister Snr told 365Scores.
"Alexis is still on a two-season contract with Liverpool.
"Currently, he'll get some rest for a few days and then go back to playing in the Premier League; that's the current situation."
