According to multiple reports, the franchise waived rookie guard Peter Suder from his two-way contract, clearing a roster spot for forward Arthur Kaluma.
Earlier ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Kaluma is joining the Lakers on a two-way deal after impressing during the organization's Summer League campaign.
Kaluma earns deal after Summer League breakout
Kaluma emerged as one of the Lakers' standout performers during the summer, averaging 17.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting 55.1% from the field and 38.9% from three-point range across seven appearances.
The 24-year-old forward delivered his best performance against the Dallas Mavericks, scoring 34 points on 11-of-16 shooting and making six three-pointers in a 91-70 victory.
Kaluma was already familiar with the organization after spending the 2025-26 campaign with the South Bay Lakers. The 2.01-meter forward averaged 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in the G League.
He previously played college basketball for Creighton, Kansas State, and Texas before going undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Suder's Lakers stint ends before rookie season
Suder initially signed a two-way contract with the Lakers after going undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The 22-year-old guard arrived in Los Angeles following an impressive final college season at Miami University, where he was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year.
Suder averaged 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 54.6% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range during the 2025-26 campaign.
His departure leaves Kaluma, Chris Manon, and AK Okereke occupying the Lakers' three two-way roster spots.
