Villa are targeting a loan move for Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho.
The 22-year-old is set to be pushed down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge by the arrival of Morgan Rogers in a £117million move from Villa.
And that has opened the door for the Argentinian to head in the opposite direction to Villa Park.
Villa also like Garnacho’s team-mate Nicolas Jackson, who Emery previously managed at Villarreal.
The manager has been a long-time admirer of Garnacho and was interested in signing him last summer, before he moved from Manchester United to Chelsea for £40m.
Garnacho made 24 appearances in the Premier League last season, though 10 of those were off the bench, with precisely half of his eight goals coming off the bench.
Emery believes he can rejuvenate Garnacho’s career in a similar manner to his former Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Villa in 2025.
Rogers underwent a medical at Chelsea on Monday after his British record transfer was agreed over the weekend.
Emery has put signing a winger toward the top of his recruitment priorities this summer.
Villa have heavily scouted Paris Saint-Germain teenager Ibrahim Mbaye, with West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville another player on their list.
Talks are also ongoing with AC Milan for left-back Pervis Estupinan, viewed as a strong replacement for Lucas Digne who is on the brink of joining Paris Saint-Germain for £8m.
A right-back is also wanted and a move for Flamengo’s Emerson Royal could be revived later in the window.
Villa have already broken their transfer record with the £52m signing of midfielder Johan Manzambi, while Joao Gomes has joined from Wolves for £38m.
