New claims from France suggest that Liverpool will have to break the Premier League transfer record for a second season in a row to sign Bradley Barcola.
Last summer, Liverpool spent £125m to bring Alexander Isak to Anfield on Deadline Day, with the feeling at the time that it would be quite some time before we saw the Reds spend anywhere close to that figure again.
Now, it would appear as though this must happen to sign Barcola before the 1 September transfer deadline.
French outlet L’Equipe reports that Les Bleus star Barcola will sit down to discuss his future with his representatives this week, and that PSG want a massive €150 million fee to part ways with the French forward.
The report penned by Emery Taisne states: “There remains another burning issue: that of Bradley Barcola.
“Upon his return from the United States next week, the French international, under contract until 2028, will discuss his future with his management.
“Discussions about an extension, which began several months ago, were put on hold during the World Cup.
“PSG values its striker at €150 million and remains attentive to the market in the event of a departure. While the Parisian club has already lost Ramos, the trail leading to Barcelona’s Ferran Torres remains topical.”

Liverpool are one of the teams that have contacted Barcelona to express interest in signing Torres before the Spaniard scored to win the FIFA World Cup final on Sunday.
Is Barcola worth €150m?
More specifically, is Barcola worth €150 million (£127m) to Liverpool?
I can’t answer that question, but it doesn’t appear as though there are many elite alternatives to Barcola. Yan Diomande is an exciting target, but he’s still too raw to spend such a vast sum on.
Barcola is proven. He’s a two-time European champion and nearly reached the World Cup final with France this summer.
He might not be a right winger, but he’s the type of player who is capable of becoming Liverpool’s talisman like Mohamed Salah was for nine years.
There could be some wriggle room with PSG on their valuation of Barcola, but he’s got the potential to be well worth that type of money being discussed.
