Liverpool in investment talks with consortium

**Liverpool are in talks with a consortium over potential minority investment.**

Fenway Sports Group confirmed on Tuesday that they are exploring a ‘strategic’ proposal led by Queens Park Rangers’ co-owner Amit Bhatia.

Bhatia’s involvement at Loftus Road stretches back almost two decades but has already relinquished his role to facilitate the potential Anfield involvement.

The 46-year-old tended his board resignation and agreed to transfer his ownership stake in the Hoops to majority owner Ruben Gnanalingam.

Bhatia’s consortium is backed by his father-in-law Lakshmi Mittal’s family which was behind a minority shareholding in QPR back in 2007.

Mittal, who previously was linked with takeovers of Everton and Wigan Athletic, is the owner of Indian Premier League franchise Rajasthan Royals.

He and his family were valued as the eighth-wealthiest UK residents in the 2025 Sunday Times’ Rich List with an esitmated net worth of £15.44 billion.

FSG confirmed to the Financial Times that they had engaged in discussions with Bhatia’s consortium over the potential minority investment.

A statement read: “An investment consortium led, managed, and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club.”

Liverpool’s prospective investment, which could stand as high as a 49% stake, has the potential increase the club’s valuation to just shy of £4.5bn.
