Liverpool could have been handed a boost in their reported interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott after the England Under-21 international reportedly rejected the club’s latest contract offer.
According to BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel, Bournemouth have made extending Scott’s contract a priority, but negotiations have stalled. The 22-year-old still has two years remaining on his current deal, although the lack of an agreement is expected to keep interest from rival clubs alive.

Bournemouth remain determined to keep Scott and have already rejected an enquiry from Arsenal this summer. The club’s position means any interested side would still need to convince Bournemouth to sanction a deal despite the contract situation.
Liverpool have been linked with Scott in recent months, alongside Manchester United. Their reported interest has gained further attention following Andoni Iraola’s move to Anfield after the Spaniard previously worked with the midfielder at Bournemouth.
Scott established himself as a regular under Iraola, playing an important role in Bournemouth’s sixth-place Premier League finish and qualification for the Europa League. His versatility, composure in possession and tactical awareness made him one of the club’s standout performers.
Last season, he was a near ever-present under Andoni Iraola, making around 37 appearances across all competitions. Operating mainly as a right-sided No.8, he contributed three goals and one assist.
Scott received his first senior England call-up earlier in the season and, while he missed out on Thomas Tuchel’s final 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, he was included on the extended list and invited to a Florida training camp as one of four additional players.
That previous working relationship could work in Liverpool’s favour if the club decide to pursue a move. Iraola is already familiar with Scott’s qualities and how he fits into his tactical system, potentially reducing the adaptation period should a transfer materialise.
Alex Scott joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in a £25 million move in 2023 and has continued his development on the south coast. He has also attracted interest from several Premier League clubs during the current transfer window, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite the speculation, Bournemouth’s stance has not changed. The Cherries are preparing for their first European campaign and are reportedly valuing Scott at around £80 million, underlining their determination to keep one of their key players.
