Newcastle United need to bring in players all across the pitch. That should have been very clear the minute they finished the season in 12th place in the Premier League. And it became even clearer with the departure of key players like Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.

Newcastle United have been linked with a few other wingers as well. One of them is Abde Ezzalzouli of Real Betis. But Aston Villa are believed to be interested in him as well.

The issue is that Aston Villa can offer Champions League football, which Newcastle United cannot. As a result, they have already lost out in the race for Johan Manzambi. They would not want to see that story repeated.

There is some good news in that regard. It looks like there are other players on Aston Villa’s transfer wishlist who are ahead of Ezzalzouli.

Aston Villa submit official bid for Chelsea winger and why it is good news for Newcastle

According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa have sent an official bid to Chelsea for Alejandro Garnacho. It is for an initial loan with a buy clause included, being discussed.

Their manager, Unai Emery, has already approved Garnacho as a transfer target. Talks are also ongoing on the player’s side with Aston Villa.

Of course, if Aston Villa end up succeeding in signing Garnacho, it is hard to imagine that they would be interested in bringing Ezzalzouli as well.

That would open the door for Newcastle United to make their move for Ezzalzouli. But of course, the €60 million release clause could still be a stumbling block for the Magpies.

Why Ezzalzouli would be a good signing for Newcastle

Of course, many might suggest Garnacho as a potential option for Newcastle United as well. And although he has had a couple of tough years, we cannot forget that he was one of the most highly-rated talents in world football at one point.

That being said, it would not be ideal to sign a player out of form and hope that it works out. On the other hand, Ezzalzouli would be the complete opposite.

He is coming off the best season of his career. The winger scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists for Real Betis in 43 games in the previous season.

Those are phenomenal numbers, especially for a winger. And with Aston Villa seemingly more focused on Garnacho, a move becomes easier to pull off for Newcastle United.
