Liverpool have begun pre-season training ahead of the start of the 2026/27 season, which gets underway next month.
Liverpool’s pre-season schedule will see Andoni Iraola begin his new era with a three-match tour of the United States.
Players who were not involved in the World Cup returned for pre-season training last week, while the Reds prepare for their second trip to America in three summers.

Several key players will miss the early stages of the tour but are expected to rejoin the squad gradually. Liverpool have named a 31-man squad for the trip, although the group effectively consists of 26 available players, with six members of the squad currently continuing their injury rehabilitation programmes.
Iraola’s side will face Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds United across three different states over the next fortnight before returning to Merseyside in early August. More senior players will join the group later after completing their World Cup commitments.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s U21s and U18s have started a week-long pre-season training camp in Slovenia. Both academy teams will finish the trip with friendlies against NK Celje on Sunday.
U18s head coach Simon Wiles told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s been really good and we’ve had a really good two weeks so far.
“I missed virtually all of pre-season before arriving last year so it has been really good getting to know the first-years who have come into our squad this season.
“They are starting their scholarship with us and it has been nice to see the mix between them and the second years we still have with us in the U18s. They are all raring to go so it’s going to be an exciting pre-season and hopefully a good season ahead.”
The U15s have also travelled to Japan, where they will play a double-header against a J-League XI on July 24 and July 26, according to LFC Academy.
Last summer, both Liverpool’s senior team and U15s travelled to Japan as part of their pre-season tour of Asia. The Liverpool U15/16’s concluded their pre-season trip to Japan with a defeat against a J.League XI.
