Tottenham line up move for Bundesliga striker as an alternative to Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi.
Tottenham Hotspur have already strengthened their defensive and midfield units this summer. The six signings underline the club’s commitment to back boss Roberto De Zerbi and give him a side with greater depth and quality in the squad, as Spurs prepare for the challenges of the new campaign.
The Hotspur Way chiefs are now scouring the market for attacking reinforcements. Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi has emerged as one of the primary targets of Tottenham. The France Under-21 international dazzled during his maiden season in Premier League football, netting 13 times in 33 outings. He broke the long-standing record for the most goals by a teenager in their debut Premier League season.
However, the Cherries are reluctant to lose Kroupi after just one campaign. New Bournemouth boss Marco Rose recently spoke about the club doing everything within their powers to retain Kroupi’s services. And if Tottenham or any club want to sign the 20-year-old, they must splash £80m. While Spurs’ optimism over landing Kroupi hasn’t taken a hit, they are preparing moves for alternative targets in case they can’t pull off this big-money deal for the Bournemouth starlet.
Tottenham considering move for Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani
According to a report from TEAMTalk, Hoffenheim forward Fisnik Asllani, who plays a bit like Hugo Ekitike, has emerged as a target for Tottenham. Barcelona and RB Leipzig are also said to have tracked the 23-year-old’s progress in recent years.
One of the highly-rated young forwards in the Bundesliga, Fisnik Asllani netted 11 goals and 10 assists for Hoffenheim in 35 matches last season. This has sparked Tottenham’s interest in the Kosovan international, who still has three years to run on his current deal. The report adds that Spurs have made enquiries for the 23-year-old in recent weeks and are keeping close tabs on his situation.
Asllani may not be up to Kroupi’s quality and potential, but he could still become a valuable addition to Tottenham’s attacking ranks. Capable of leading the attack and operating as a secondary striker, the Hoffenheim man would be a good option to challenge Dominic Solanke for a spot in Roberto De Zerbi’s first XI. He is adept at holding the ball up, linking play, creating chances for his teammates in the final third and finishing off chances.
The Kosovan is a real handful for the defenders in and around the box. The Tottenham team are in desperate need of goals, and Asllani would provide them. A deal for Asllani shouldn’t be too difficult for the Lilywhites to pull off, although Kroupi remains the primary target.
