Everything you need to know about Jeff Bezos' investment links with Liverpool FC:

Approach to Jeff Bezos: Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has reportedly held initial discussions regarding a potential deal to buy a stake in Liverpool Football Club. He was invited to join an investment group seeking a partial purchase of the Premier League club.

Consortium Leadership: The investment group is led by Amit Bhatia, a former co-owner of Queens Park Rangers and son-in-law of billionaire steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal. Bhatia’s syndicate is actively seeking high-profile partners to support the bid.

FSG Official Statement: Addressing the ongoing discussion, FSG released a statement acknowledging the group's interest in the club. They stated: "An investment consortium led, managed, and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club."

Size of the Stake: The group is targeting a strategic minority stake that could cover up to 30% of the club. This arrangement would allow current owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) to retain primary operational control.

Multi-Billion Dollar Valuation: The negotiations place a valuation on Liverpool FC of at least $6billion (around £4.5billion). This figure underlines the club's massive commercial growth and strong global brand presence.

Exploratory Stage: Sources warn that talks with Bezos are strictly exploratory, and no deal has been finalised. It is still uncertain whether the billionaire will choose to proceed with an investment.

FSG Ownership Strategy: Fenway Sports Group prefers bringing in minority partners to raise capital without relinquishing overall management of the club. This strategy follows a similar minority stake sale made to Dynasty Equity in 2023.

Bezos's Sports Interests: Boasting an estimated net worth of $257billion (£192billion), Bezos has previously explored purchasing major sports teams, including NFL franchises. Joining Liverpool would represent his first major venture into European football ownership.
