Giannis Antetokounmpo was traded to the Miami Heat this summer for a trade package centered around Tyler Herro, young players, and draft assets. Initially, the 26-year-old Wisconsin native, Tyler Herro, did not seem happy about being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, despite it being his hometown.
But shortly after the trade, the altercation between Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo seemingly stole his attention. And now, over two weeks after the trade was announced, Herro released the first episode of a new vlog that he has started on YouTube.
In the video, he also reveals his true reaction to the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade when he first learned he was included in the move. Herro dropped multiple expletives in frustration before turning it into a sense of forced optimism.
“Back to the f–king crib, dog! Y’all done lost your motherf—— mind, we’re going back to Cali,” Herro said as soon as he landed in Paris and found out about the trade.
Shortly after, Herro reached his hotel room, where he seemed optimistic about the trade, looking like he was having the time of his life while listening to ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’, a 1970s hit by Thin Lizzy.
NBA fans saw this reaction on social media as it instantly went viral. They were all focused on the initial part of the vlog, where he is seen to be happy during the trade rumors. He seems to have thought that the Heat were trading someone else to pair him with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“He really thinks he’s more valuable than Giannis?”
“This is like the Avengers trading Hawkeye for Thanos, and Hawkeye says: you’ve lost your mind.”
“That’s not a quote, that’s pure frustration.”
“Why is he acting like he’s a top 10 player in the league?”

Various such reactions flooded social media as fans began criticizing Herro. But while he may not be as good as Giannis Antetokounmpo, he is certainly a promising player to build around in the short term.
In 2024-25, when Herro earned his first All-Star appearance, he averaged 23.9 points, 5.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 47.2% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc.
Subsequently, he underwent ankle surgery and missed most of last season, only playing 33 games. He ended up averaging 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 48.0% from the floor and 37.8% from the three-point line.
Shortly after the trade was announced, Herro apparently posted his $11.99 million South Florida property for sale, showing that he is totally committed to beginning life in Wisconsin with the Milwaukee Bucks. But looking ahead, Herro’s enthusiasm is reasonable considering his heritage.
Born in Milwaukee and growing up in neighboring Greenfield, Wisconsin, he flourished at Whitnall High School before moving to Kentucky and ultimately became the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Returning to the place where his basketball journey began gives a unique full-circle feeling that few NBA players get to experience. Herro gets the opportunity to represent the town that saw him develop into one of the league’s top scorers rather than traveling to a new, unfamiliar place.
