Amazon founder could join Liverpool buy-in bid

**Jeff Bezos could join the consortium seeking to buy a minority stake in Liverpool.**

A venture fronted by former Queens Park Rangers chairman Amit Bhatia [is in discussions with owners Fenway Sports Group](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/66647-liverpool-consortium-investment-talks-confirmed/) over investing in the Anfield club.

Bhatia relinquished his shares at Loftus Road, which he had held since 2007, in order to lead the bid backed by father-in-law and steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal.

Early indications suggest that the group are aiming to secure a 30% ownership stake for £1.35 billion which would see the Reds’ overall valuation skyrocket.

That proposed investment would confirm the club’s worth rise to £4.5bn with FSG confirming on Tuesday that they were in negotiations over the ‘strategic’ deal.

As part of the planned buy-in, the consortium have reportedly approached Bezos, whose estimated net worth currently stands at over £192bn, to partner with them.

The Amazon co-founder has previously entertained offers to be part of investment opportunities with NFL teams Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders.

However Bezos is not expected to join the Liverpool venture, having previously decided against the proposals put forward in his native United States.
