Liverpool will “probably sign” Paris Saint-Germain and France star Bradley Barcola during the summer transfer window, according to Stefan Borson.
The £127.8m-rated Frenchman has constantly been linked with the Reds since the end of last season, following his second Champions League triumph in a row with PSG.
Barcola stands out as Liverpool’s leading option to sign out wide, partly due to Yan Diomande now looking unlikely to join, and it would be a blow to miss out on both.
Speaking to Football Insider, finance expert Borson was confident that the Reds will seal the addition for Barcola from PSG, in what could be a busy summer at Anfield:
“Liverpool haven’t really done anything yet either, but they will do. I think they definitely will do. They’ll probably sign [Bradley] Barcola as a minimum, I would think. So, Liverpool are going to spend quite big.
“But outside of that, there’s not a lot of movement. And are the teams lower down going to start picking off the excess at Liverpool, [Man] City, Arsenal, the fringe players that those teams would want to sell?”
Liverpool will sign Bradley Barcola…won’t they?
There does seem to be a growing sense that Barcola will be a Liverpool player next season, but it is far from certain, with Arsenal among those hovering over a potential signing.
The 23-year-old has exactly what the Reds need out wide, though, from blistering pace to quality in key attacking areas, and PSG manager Luis Enrique has made it clear what he thinks of him in the past:
“He incarnates the present and the future. On Saturday evening, he was superb, the most decisive player in one-on-one situations and he scored an exceptional goal too. He had a great match; there is nothing new regarding Bradley. I am very happy for him.”
Barcola’s price tag is clearly enormous, and paying £127.8m would make him Liverpool’s most expensive signing of all time, and that does bring some risks, should he not live up to the hype.
But the France international has the ability to become a superstar for the Reds, and he could be their next great winger after the departure of Mohamed Salah.
