Newcastle United transfers: Arsenal will push to sign Bruno Guimaraes before the start of the 2026/27 Premier League season.
The Magpies insist the Brazilian midfielder is not for sale and claim no fresh approach has been made by the Gunners despite the situation playing out and developing into something of a saga in the media.
But the club are braced for Arsenal to make a formal proposal in an attempt to sign the player this summer.

NewcastleWorld understands Guimaraes has informed the club that he would like to leave after four-and-a-half seasons. Newcastle have been consistent in their message that they would not entertain offers for the player but the situation has cause some unease both externally and internally at St James’ Park.
The Brazilian is set to return from his World Cup break later this month.
Guimaraes is under contract at Newcastle until 2028 and, as revealed by The Shields Gazette, has a one-year extension option that the club can trigger which effectively ties him down until 2029. Newcastle are open to new contract talks with Guimaraes, who has established himself as a talisman in Eddie Howe’s side since his arrival from Lyon.
In that, the club view the midfielder as an incredibly valuable asset. But after seeing the club agree big money sales for Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali with minimal fuss, Guimaraes would ideally like to follow suit.
Guimaraes has remained publicly silent on the situation surrounding his future, in fact he recently changed his Instagram profile picture back to a Newcastle United related image while also paying tribute to the late Kevin Keegan, whose passing was announced earlier this week.
But the actions of Guimaraes’ representatives this summer speak volumes of where the player’s intentions lie. Unfortunately, Newcastle are going to be involved in a prolonged transfer saga for the second summer running.
Only time will tell if lessons have been learned.
