Liverpool and Arsenal are set for a major transfer battle. As per recent news, the Reds are seeking out Swedish left-back Daniel Svensson for the upcoming season.

The Reds to clash with The Gunners for Svensson?

**Liverpool**expressed their interest in the 24-year-old Swedish defender. As reported by CaughtOffside, the Reds want Svensson for the upcoming season. Interestingly, they’re not the only ones. Arsenal, AC Milan, Juventus, and Real Madrid have also expressed their interest in Svensson.

Svensson currently plays for Borussia Dortmund. He was signed for an amount of €6.5 million after a successful loan spell. He previously played for Nordsjaelland [also known as FCN] from 2020 to 2025.

Svensson’s stats for the 2025-26 season, as per FOTMOB:

Competitions Matches Duels Won Tackles Interceptions

Bundesliga 33 93 38 20

DFB Pokal 3 9 4 1

UEFA Champions League 9 27 8 3

FIFA Club World Cup 2025 5 10 4 5

How will Svensson’s potential entry be beneficial for Liverpool?

Svensson is a brilliant player. He is not only a good defender, but also capable of playing in the midfield. This is one of the main reasons why the Reds want him at Anfield as soon as possible. Apart from him, they’re also seeking defenders like Marc Guehi and Castello Lukeba among others. They’ve already signed French defender Jeremy Jacquet for the upcoming season. Now they want some with tactical discipline. In that way, Svensson is a brilliant choice.

Svensson performed well for Borussia Dortmund last year. While they didn’t perform well in some tournaments, the German clubs managed to finish as runners-up in Bundesliga. If he joins Liverpool, the Swedish player will get a taste of **Premier League**football. His energy and technical quality will be very useful.

The Reds are undergoing a tactical transformation. Team manager Andoni Iraola wants a better side by the next season. He doesn’t want to repeat the mistakes that led to the sacking of the previous manager, Arne Slot.

What’s next for Daniel Svensson

Svensson is currently resting for a while before preparing for the next football season. The left-back was a part of the Sweden team that played at the FIFA World Cup 2026. Sweden eventually made it to the knockout stage [Round of 32]. However, France beat them 3-0.

After the World Cup, the Swedish defender should work on maintaining his current form. If he wants to become a big name in European football, he needs to be consistent with his performance. Svensson is not the only player for whom Liverpool are ready to clash with the Gunners in the transfer market. Bradley Barcola is on the wishlist of both the Reds and the Gunners. Liverpool are equally eager to bring the Frenchman to Anfield by the next season.

The Reds recently signed midfielder Samuel Martinez. It wasn’t easy, as Barcelona were also interested in the Colombian teenager. However, Liverpool overcame the challenge. Likewise, it shouldn’t be too difficult for the Reds to overcome Arsenal if they are seriously interested in Svensson. He is an all-rounder, and he is capable of rising to the occasion. He is someone Liverpool missed for a long time, i.e. a reliable team player.

Svensson currently has an asking price of €50 million. His contract will expire by June 2029. Thus, Borussia Dortmund won’t let him out cheaply. However, Liverpool are no novice either. They will do whatever it takes to bring Svensson to Anfield if they have made up their mind.
