Spain have announced their 15-man roster for the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers. The squad, coached by Chus Mateo, features five NBA players.
Santi Aldama, Hugo Gonzalez, Sergio de Larrea, Aday Mara and Baba Miller all have NBA contracts and are featured on the roster.
They are joined by EuroLeague players: Dario Brizuela, Alvaro Cardenas, Juancho Hernangomez, Willy Hernangomez, Joel Parra, Jaime Pradilla, Mario Saint-Supery and Santi Yusta.
The only two players not on a EuroLeague or NBA roster are Alberto Diaz and Izan Almansa. While Almansa was on the Real Madrid roster last season and still has a contract, it is rumoured that he will leave for the NCAA this offseason.
Spain advanced to the second round of the European qualifiers after finishing with a 5-1 record in the first round.
In Group I they will face Montenegro, Portugal and Greece to grab a spot in the FIBA World Cup 2027. The group also features Ukraine and Georgia who qualified to the second round from Group A alongside Spain.
Spain are set to play Portugal on August 28 and Greece on August 31.
