Reports have indicated that the Los Angeles Lakers genuinely like Bronny James as a player. With LeBron James expected to sign with a new team sometime in the near future, others have thought that the Lakers would just move on from him to do him a favor.
However, other reports indicated that the Lakers don't plan to do so.
Despite those reports, others believe that Bronny will be moved on from, whether by waiving him or trading him, with one recent prediction naming him as one of the three players the Lakers could cut ties with.
“Bronny James has more than made his case to be separated from LeBron James. Despite that, there are those still out there who believe his future will be tied to his father when the time comes. It would be one of the easier ways for the Lakers to shed one member of the roster. Any team attempting to lure LeBron can use Bronny as a leverage point. That would even give Los Angeles their own upper hand in the kind of trade return they can get for the young guard,” Svyatoslav Rovenchuk wrote.
I don't know if I love the idea of cutting ties with Bronny at the moment, but I can see the reason why the Lakers would do it.
The Lakers, still searching for more talent, might believe it makes sense to add him in a trade for another player, attaching other assets.
However, if Los Angeles genuinely believes that it has a chance to use Bronny and he can be a serviceable option, I don't know why it would move on from him at the moment. I get the father thing, but outside of that, it might not make a whole lot of sense.
