Forest Green Rovers officially sign Liverpool midfielder

Forest Green Rovers have confirmed the signing of a Liverpool midfielder this summer ahead of the 2026/27 season.

National League side Forest Green Rovers have confirmed the signing of Liverpool midfielder Kyle Kelly.

The 20-year-old is highly-rated on Merseyside and is a full St Kitts and Nevis international.

There was some confusion over his contract situation, with his deal expired on 30th June with no confirmation around an extension.

But he showed up in a Liverpool strip during the academy’s return to the AXA Training Centre, and this new loan deal now confirms he extended his stay at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

Liverpool put out a statement themselves that read the duration of the loan will only go until January – coming as a slight surprise as loans are typically for the duration of a season especially with developmental moves like this one:

“Liverpool U21s midfielder Kyle Kelly has completed a loan move to Forest Green Rovers.”

“The 20-year-old links up with the National League side until January after a deal was agreed between the clubs today,” the confirmation read.

“Kelly, who officially joined the Reds in September 2020, has featured regularly at U21 level in recent seasons. He is also a senior St. Kitts and Nevis international with eight caps and one goal.”
