Liverpool FC have confirmed a double header friendly in Slovenia as pre-season preparations continue across the board this summer.

Liverpool’s pre-season preparations are now fully underway across multiple levels of the club, with activity ramping up both on and off the pitch ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The senior squad officially departed for Chicago on Monday to begin their US tour. It will be Andoni Iraola’s first matches in charge as the new Liverpool boss.

The Reds face Sunderland at GEODIS Park in Nashville on 25 July, Wrexham at Yankee Stadium in New York on 29 July, and Leeds United at Soldier Field in Chicago on 2 August.
Speaking in his opening press conference of the tour, Iraola provided early updates on squad planning, including confirmation that young goalkeeper Armin Pecsi is set to head out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience.
Additionally, no open training sessions are expected to be held during the tour.
While attention is naturally focused on the senior side, Liverpool have also confirmed pre-season plans for their academy ranks, with the club’s U21s and U18s currently in Slovenia for an intensive training camp.
Both sides will conclude the summer camp with friendlies against their NK Celje counterparts on Sunday.
U18 coach Simon Wiles said of training with Rob Pages’ U21 group:
“We have a great relationship and being together in Slovenia this week is going to be really important for us. A lot of the work we do is all aligned so it’s great to go away together and have a full seven days. It’s going to be great and again, there are opportunities for players to impress and showcase how good they can be this season.”
“It’s a really important week for all of us as we get the players fit and ready for the new season. It’s great that we both have a game at the end of it, so we are going to be working the players really hard this week. We’ll be doing double or maybe triple sessions and even though the bodies may be a little fatigued, having the matches will give us an opportunity to showcase what we have been working on.”
Meanwhile, preparations are not limited to Europe and the USA. Liverpool’s U15 side are also set for international action, with a trip to Japan this week. The youngsters will face a J1 League XI in another double-header friendlies on Friday and Sunday.
