The Los Angeles Lakers have made it very obvious that they look to move on from Dalton Knecht if they get the right player in return. Knecht, a decent player in his own right, really doesn't have much value around the league.
The reality is that teams aren't going to send a massive haul to land a player of his caliber, even if Lakers fans think they can throw him into any potential trade package.
Knecht will likely be used in a package in the future to help the Lakers improve, but according to the latest report, there's a better chance they'd have to add assets to this trade than get anything of significance back.
In fact, Jovan Buha recently stated that if Los Angeles actually had a package to get him back assets, it probably would have done so already.
"I would be personally surprised if they get an asset back for Dalton Knecht or Jaden Hardy," Buha noted, H/T Basketnews. "I think if the Lakers had a current trade on the docket where they could flip those guys and get back an asset, they would have already done that."
I'm curious to see if the Lakers have anything up their sleeves over the next few weeks to months.
This roster looks decent on paper, but it could still use another player, whether that's an above-average one or a star, depending on what the Lakers decide to do. However, I wouldn't get my hopes up if you're a Lakers fan thinking Knecht is going to bring them some above-average return.
