MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - On this day, July 22, 2021, Governor Tony Evers declared this day “Bucks In Six Day” after the Milwaukee Bucks won their first championship in 50 years.
The Bucks In Six motto came long before the actual championship run, when former Bucks guard Brandon Jennings declared the Bucks would beat the top-seeded Miami Heat in six games in 2013.
Well, they didn’t.
The Bucks were swept in that series, losing in four games.
When the Bucks actually won the Finals eight years later, Bucks In Six became a battle cry for Bucks fans.
Bucks In Six Day was declared two days after the championship was actually won, on the day of the championship parade in Milwaukee.
An estimated 500,000 Bucks fans took to the streets of Milwaukee to celebrate the city’s first championship win in half a century.
Today, there are officially no Bucks players on the current roster who were on the championship team, as superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis were [traded to the Miami Heat](https://www.wmtv15news.com/2026/06/23/breaking-bucks-trade-giannis/) earlier this month.
