**IOWA CITY, Iowa--** Former Hawkeye and current Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has been the face of the WNBA throughout her short career while helping make instrumental change to the sport. On Wednesday, she earned another prestigious honor by being named the cover athlete for NBA 2K's Deluxe Edition.
Clark has been on a tear this season and has helped put the Fever in a position to push for a top-three seed as the season continues. She was also recently named a captain for this year's All-Star game after averaging 20.7 points to go along with 3.9 rebounds and 7.8 assists.
"Being on the cover of NBA 2K27 is special because this game reaches fans all over the world," Clark said via a press release. "To be the first WNBA player on her own global cover means women's basketball gets to show up on that stage too, and I am proud to be part of that."
The West Des Moines native has been a constant stay in the headlines throughout the past five years along with earning nearly every accolade imaginable. It has helped put Iowa on an international stage.
It has been a crazy week for Clark as she was named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Clark also became the first player in WNBA history to score 40+ points and provide 10+ assists. The game also marked Clark's 20th points/assist double-double, tied for the fourth-most in WNBA history.
"Some nights, like, you know you have it -- even before the ball tips," Clark said. "I felt like it was going to be one of those for me. I feel like you just have to believe you're going to have those type of nights, and you have to visualize having those types of nights. And I feel like that's what I did."
"It's incredible," Fever head coach Stephanie White said. "I mean, it's special. She does things that that we haven't seen. She had a lot of bounce early. You could tell she was feeling better. She was feeling good, and in the moment, sometimes it's surreal to see. I look down at the stat sheet at the end of the game, and it's like, holy s---, 45 and 10."
Clark finished her final season leading the nation in assists (8.9 assists per game) and in scoring (31.6 points per game). She became the first player to finish No. 1 in both categories in back-to-back seasons. Clark owns a career 3,900+ points and she recently became the first Division-I player to record 1,000+ points in back-to-back seasons. She is also the only player in NCAA DI men's or women's basketball history to lead her conference in scoring and assists in four consecutive seasons.
The Fever play its final game before All-Star Weekend on Wednesday night at 7. They'll be taking on the Connecticut Sun and it will be televised on USA.
