Aston Villa have struck an agreement with Chelsea to sign Alejandro Garnacho on a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy the forward at the end of the season

Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea.
The move has been driven by Unai Emery, who wanted to bring Garnacho to Villa Park following a disappointing first season at Chelsea. The 22-year-old joined the Blues from Manchester United for £40million last summer but struggled for form in 2025/26, scoring just eight goals and adding four assists in 43 appearances.
Despite this, Garnacho is now expected to make the move to the Villains on a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy, according to The Athletic. The Argentina international has undergone a medical and is in Birmingham to complete the move.
A four-year contract is in place for Garnacho should the conditional obligation to buy clause be met and the move is therefore made permanent next summer.
The deal is thought to be separate to Chelsea's £117m move for Morgan Rogers, which was confirmed on Tuesday after the Blues beat competition from Arsenal to his signature.
Garnacho was allowed by new Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso to remain away from the start of the club's pre-season training in order to secure a move away from west London.
Indeed, speaking at his first press conference at Chelsea earlier this month, Alonso said Garnacho is free to leave this summer. Alonso said: "Well the situation is that we have spoken with the sporting directors.
"There is an interest for him [Garnacho] from other clubs. So let's see how this develops. But hopefully, it finishes in the best possible way for other clubs."
Before his move to Chelsea, Garnacho had spent the previous four-and-a-half years at United. In that time, Garnacho made 144 senior appearances for the Reds, scoring 26 goals.
