Tottenham make €70M bid for Manchester City winger who was heavily linked to Spurs last year

Tottenham have upped their ante to sign Manchester City winger Savinho.

Tottenham Hotspur have been the Premier League’s biggest spenders so far this summer, splashing out £237million to improve their squad so far, and there is still more to come.

Roberto De Zerbi wants to add to his forward line next as he looks to prepare a squad well-equipped to challenge for the Champions League spots in the upcoming season. Spurs really wanted to sign Savinho from Manchester City last year, but the Sky Blues were reluctant to listen to offers. Former boss Pep Guardiola was keen to keep Savinho to maintain his squad’s depth, but after his exit, the 22-year-old has become a realistic target for Spurs this summer.

Tottenham table bid for Savinho

Savinho has been earmarked as the North London club’s top priority to strengthen the attack, with De Zerbi a huge fan of the Brazil international. After weeks of negotiations with Manchester City, Spurs have tabled their first offer for the player.

According to Italian journalist Luca Cerchione on X, Tottenham have made a formal €70m bid for Savinho as they look to bring in the player as part of their pre-season squad. The diminutive winger has already agreed personal terms ahead of a move to White Hart Lane.

Savinho was devoid of regular minutes at Man City last season due to a combination of internal competition and injury problems. He is now prepared to try to take the chance to move to North London ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the chance to work under De Zerbi strongly enticing him. The Lilywhites are well-placed to hand the Brazilian a much bigger role than he has played at the Etihad Stadium, which is another reason for the winger’s willingness to join De Zerbi’s forces.

It is believed that a deal is likely to be agreed imminently, with Man City’s valuation for the player not far off what has now been offered. Savinho is an exciting, direct winger who can operate on both flanks and create opportunities in the final third. The former Girona man has all the attributes to flourish under De Zerbi and provide the cutting edge in the final third Spurs lacked last season. He’d also be a good option to cover and compete with Mohammed Kudus, whilst improving the depth of the squad.

After a quiet few weeks, Tottenham supporters will be keen to see Savinho become the club’s seventh signing of the transfer window.
