The Warriors are "pessimistic" and were not given any sign that LeBron James will join them in this year's offseason.
While they are mainly being identified as one of the prominent suitors for LeBron James, the Golden State Warriors still reportedly acknowledge that they don't have a true shot at landing the superstar.

Appearing on NBA Today, ESPN's Warriors writer Anthony Slater further gave context to the Warriors' brutal reality amid their pursuit of James in free agency.
"The Warriors are pessimistic that that event is gonna take place. You know, it’s just, really since the beginning, they’ve just not thought they’re at the top of the list. I talked to somebody last night that basically said they’ve been given no sign or hint that it’s gonna happen," Slater said about Warriors possibly signing James.
"And while we know LeBron has been difficult at times to contact directly in this process, Steph Curry clearly has contacted him directly, and Draymond Green has been vacationing with him. So I would think that the Warriors would know if it’s leaning one way or the other, and all of my indications from the Warriors side are that they believe it is not leaning towards them, and they’re keeping a roster spot open, and they would love to have them, but they’re not planning for it."
Warriors pessimistic, not given a sign by LeBron James to join them
The Golden State Warriors have been in the mix with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers. And while they are the only West team, the noise around the Dubs hasn't been very significant compared to the three.
The Warriors have been eyeing James since the four-time MVP entered free agency and ultimately informed the Los Angeles Lakers he will not return. With Draymond Green leading the recruitment and Stephen Curry delivering his very own pitches, Golden State remained serious in luring James to their side.
But as past reports have indicated, the Warriors' chances of landing LeBron depend on their capability of acquiring Anthony Davis. As such, the star big man has never been made available in trade talks by the Washington Wizards.
Golden State's only hope is that James considers being closer to home in his next destination. With the Bay Area near Los Angeles, James can still easily travel to his family and maximize his consideration for his youngest child, Zhuri.
Right now, while they are pessimistic about their chances, the Warriors can only continue their push to gain James' commitment until their former rival breaks his silence and announces his next NBA team.
