On 92.3 The Fan’s Baskin and Phelps show, Cleveland radio host Andy Baskin revealed that James was "irritated" upon being urged by the NBA commissioner to finally reveal his next destination.
“Here’s what I was told yesterday about the whole LeBron situation. Last week, LeBron’s crew was probably ready to make an announcement, especially because they were in New York. The world had their eyes on New York because of the World Cup as well. They were probably comfortable making an announcement as early as last week. And then, people were telling them what to do," Baskin claimed.
"There’s a little bit of irritation. ... Irritated was the word I was told, by the commissioner pushing them ... so they decided to hold back.”
Adam Silver pressures LeBron James to name next NBA team amid season schedule
Last week, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver raised eyebrows upon speaking on stage at the CNBC Sport x Boardroom Game Plan Summit during Fanatics Fest NYC, urging LeBron James to finally name his next team as soon as possible.
Silver claimed they cannot finalize or release the upcoming 2026–27 regular season schedule because James' destination completely dictates national television slots.
"I would like him to make his announcement already, so we can finish the schedule, because, as you might imagine, the teams are calling us, the networks are calling us, and everybody wants to lock in the schedule," Silver said.
“But it will influence how we set the schedule, how we set opening week, Christmas Day, etc. So I need him to make a decision.”
Out of this viral statement from Silver, many have instantly reacted. ESPN's Brian Windhorst dropped an intriguing sentiment on what might be James' perspective regarding the commissioner's plea.
"This is one thing I can say with confidence: LeBron does not care about holding the league up with his schedule," the NBA expert and longtime LeBron reporter noted. "He will make them wait until he is good and ready to make a decision."
So far, the entire sports world is still waiting on LeBron's final declaration for perhaps the final stop of his NBA career.
