Despite Anthony Edwards’ recent disappointing admission that the Timberwolves are out of the LeBron James sweepstakes, the superstar guard still made an effort to recruit the four-time MVP to Minnesota alongside LaMelo Ball.
Anthony Edwards made headlines last week as he appeared at Fanatics Fest NYC and bluntly discussed the Minnesota Timberwolves' chances of landing LeBron James.

As he was asked about the Wolves' inclusion in the LeBron race, the superstar guard dismissed his own team and made it clear that they are not in the top three choices of the 41-year-old free agent.
“I have nothing to say about it because I’ve seen his top 3 teams," Edwards simply responded, "We’re not in it.”
Despite Edwards’ disappointing admission at that time, he still apparently made a significant effort to recruit James to Minnesota alongside LaMelo Ball.

According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, both Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball have reached out to LeBron James to convince the four-time MVP to join the Minnesota Timberwolves.
"There was one exchange with Kevin Negandhi while he was walking around Fanatics Fest talking about the LeBron pursuit and saying, 'I've seen the top three list on his list and we're not on it, so I'm not really all that worried about it.' Could he be telling the absolute truth? Yes, he could be. Could this all be theater? Yes, it could be. We will see because we continue to wait for LeBron," the longtime Timberwolves reporter said on his The Jon Krawczynski Show.
"As we're recording this on Wednesday morning, we still do not have an announcement from LeBron on where he is going. But I think that certainly opened some people's eyes and got some people thinking about the Wolves' pursuit of LeBron. Anthony Edwards has been directly involved in this process and has made phone calls to LeBron. LaMelo Ball has also had a conversation with LeBron as they try to get their teams considered in the sweepstakes."
The Timberwolves are one of the prominent suitors for James, but their level of significance is not comparable to the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers.
On the court, James appears to be a perfect fit for Minnesota. A potential pairing with Edwards, Ball, McDaniels, and Gobert would give the Timberwolves an even more legitimate title-contending group.
But for now, with James still weighing his next move, Edwards and the Timberwolves organization can only hope the four-time MVP gives their team such strong consideration.
