Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has admitted the club "definitely" need to sign a winger as the Reds have been linked with a move for a highly-rated ace.

The Premier League titans's new coach has taken his squad out to America for pre-season and has opened up about their summer transfer window objectives. So far the Reds have snapped up Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34.5million, who can operate on both flanks and through the middle.

But that only fulfils an existing void after Liverpool failed to replace left winger Luis Diaz last season when he joined Bayern Munich. And with talismanic right winger Mohamed Salah also having left the Reds, it's clear more must be done to strengthen this area of the squad. Meanwhile there's huge developments regarding potential investment in the club. Here's all the latest news from Anfield.

FSG end silence over investment claims

Liverpool owner Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have acknowledged that a consortium spearheaded by British-Indian entrepreneur Amit Bhatia has contacted them regarding a stake in the club.

The group enjoys backing from the Mittal family, whose net worth was last estimated at more than £26billion by Forbes. On Tuesday, Bhatia was confirmed to have stepped down from his position as co-owner of Queens Park Rangers, with the London club announcing his exit on its official website.

Our sister publication, the Liverpool Echo, reports the discussions are being regarded as comparable to the arrangement with Dynasty Equity in 2023, an investment group which bought a small stake in the club valued at £164m.

An FSG statement provided to the Echo said: "An investment consortium led, managed and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club."

No deal is currently in place and discussions remain at a preliminary stage according to sources familiar with the situation.

But things got a lot more interesting when it was reported that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos had been approached by Bhatia's group with an opportunity to join the consortium of investors targeting a 30% stake in Liverpool.

The world's fourth richest man, with a personal fortune of around £192billion according to Forbes, has previously explored bids for NFL franchises Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders.

According to Sky Sports, there is wariness surrounding the 62-year-old tycoon's potential participation and it remains uncertain whether he will eventually pursue the venture.

FSG acquired Liverpool for £300m in October 2010. But the record holding 20-time league champions are presently worth £5.2bn according to Forbes.

Andoni Iraola has set out his objectives for what remains of Liverpool's transfer window.

Speaking from the United States after the Reds arrived in Chicago for the opening leg of their pre-season tour, the Basque boss made his requirements crystal clear.

Following Mohamed Salah's departure this summer, the Reds continue searching for at least one winger. Iraola also acknowledged that right-back might be an area requiring attention, contingent on Conor Bradley's recovery from a long-term knee injury.

The Liverpool manager stated: "I think it is difficult to say a number when the market is open. You have to be always open to new options to improve the squad. There are obvious situations where we need to sign players.

"A winger for example, we definitely need to sign a winger, but there are other situations where we will have to analyse what the market gives you, what is the cost, how we also see the players we have.

"We have some tricky positions where we have injured players, that we trust, but it is still not the ideal situation, so it will depend on a lot of things.

"[At right-back] I think it depends on the Conor situation, at the end if you have a fully fit, healthy Conor Bradley, we are very happy, ready to go, and we would not be asking ourselves these questions."

With that need for a winger clear, the Reds have reportedly sounded out highly-rated Monaco ace Maghnes Akliouche.

Liverpool are set to rival Paris Saint-Germain for the 24-year-old, after Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas reported the Merseyside giants have made enquiries to Filipe Luis' side.

PSG are believed to have already seen three bids rejected for the wide-man, the latest said to be in the region of £34m.

Akliouche has made 139 appearances for Monaco, scoring 23 goals and registering 28 assists, while he also has 10 caps for France to his name.

A price tag of £43m has reportedly been set for his signature.
