FC Barcelona are finally preparing to officially unveil Karim Adeyemi as their second signing of the summer, bringing an end to a longer-than-expected wait for the German international.
[According to SPORT](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/barca-aplaza-jueves-anuncio-presentacion-132705981), Barca are planning to announce Adeyemi’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, July 23, before presenting the winger at the Spotify Camp Nou later in the day.
Adeyemi has already been in Barcelona for a week after arriving on July 15 to complete the final steps of his transfer. He successfully passed his medical the following day but has been unable to train with Hansi Flick’s squad while the remaining paperwork is completed.
The delay has reportedly been caused by contractual and bureaucratic matters rather than any concern over the transfer itself.
Barcelona are particularly keen to avoid another last-minute problem after Anthony Gordon’s presentation was delayed by eight hours. The club therefore want everything fully completed before publicly confirming Adeyemi as a new player.
Joan Laporta had initially suggested that the presentation would take place on Wednesday following his return from the United States, but the schedule has now been pushed back by another day.
Provided there are no further complications, the 24-year-old is expected to be officially announced on Thursday morning before being presented at around 1 pm alongside Laporta and sporting director Deco.
Barcelona will pay Borussia Dortmund €22 million guaranteed, with another €7 million available through performance-related variables. Dortmund will also retain 20 per cent of the profit from any future sale.
Adeyemi is expected to sign a five-year contract and will immediately begin working under Flick once his transfer is formally completed.
The timing should still allow the winger to complete a few training sessions before travelling with the squad to England on Monday for the club’s pre-season camp.
After spending a week in Barcelona effectively waiting for the administrative process to catch up with an already agreed transfer, Adeyemi’s new chapter finally appears ready to begin.
