The Reds have been extensively linked with a host of wingers as they look to freshen up their forward line following a difficult campaign.

The latest link is Maghnes Akliouche of Monaco, with Sky Sports reporting on Wednesday that Liverpool had made an enquiry over the winger.

Akliouche has long been a top target for Paris Saint-Germain, who have already seen three separate bids knocked back by the Ligue 1 principality club this window, the most recent believed to be worth around £34m (€40m).

The France international, contracted at the Stade Louis II until 2028, made 31 Ligue 1 appearances last season, contributing six goals and six assists, and is comfortable operating either as a right winger or a No 10.

Now French outlet Le Parisien have reported that Monaco wants €50 million for the French international, adding that the principality club need to sell some of their main earners to balance the books:

“PSG has intensified its offensive by sending several offers, which the principality club has all refused so far. The two-time European champions have already reached an agreement with the player and all that remains is to find common ground with the Monegasque club, who would ask for a cheque of around €50 million.”

“Targeted by a wage bill control, ASM must sell several of its starters this summer to remain balanced.”

Despite the Ligue 1 champions reportedly agreeing personal terms with the player, Monaco’s refusal to budge on their valuation has created an opening that Liverpool appears ready to exploit.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has maintained that Bradley Barcola is the number one target for Liverpool this summer in the winger position, and it’s now just a waiting game to see what will happen there.
