Finnish side HJK Helsinki have registered a Liverpool defender for their UEFA Conference League squad ahead of the transfer being announced.

Liverpool’s academy production line continues to churn out promising young defenders, and one of the highest-rated names among the club’s current U21 crop looks set for a change of scenery this summer.
Amara Nallo joined Liverpool from West Ham United’s academy back in September 2023, quickly establishing himself as a regular for the Reds’ youth sides after initially impressing with the U18s.

Nallo’s rise to the fringes of the first team, though, has been anything but smooth. He made his senior debut as a substitute in the Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven in January 2025, only to be shown a straight red card just four minutes after coming.
Remarkably, history repeated itself in October 2025 when Nallo came on as a substitute in a Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace and was sent off again, making Nallo the first player in Liverpool’s history to be sent off in consecutive appearances for the club.
That gave him the unwanted record of two red cards in just 16 minutes of senior football.
However, it now looks like he is on the move for a fresh start.
Finnish journalist Eetu Ikola has reported that HJK Helsinki is closing on a loan deal for Amara Nallo, with the teenage defender already registered for the club’s UEFA Conference League squad:
“HJK is closing in on Liverpool’s U21 team captain Amara Nallo (19). According to my information, it’s a loan deal. Nallo, who is already listed on UEFA’s pages in HJK’s squad, has played three matches for Liverpool’s first team.”
Nallo is believed to have slipped further down the pecking order following the arrival of Mor Talla Ndiaye, who joined from Amitié FC for around £1m in January.
