The latest transfer talk from Sunderland as the Black Cats look to add to their squad during the remainder of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea are reportedly viewed as favourites to secure the signing of a World Cup winger that has previously been linked with a move to Sunderland.
The Black Cats have added just one new signing to their ranks ahead of their maiden Europa League campaign after Belgium international Thomas Meunier penned a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light following his departure from Ligue 1 club Lille earlier this summer.

Sunderland have been linked with a whole host of potential additions and one name that has been suggested as a possible target is Bosnia and Herzegovina’s teenage winger Kerim Alajbegovic. The Bayer Leverkusen star enjoyed a productive World Cup finals as he appeared in all four of his side’s games in North America and he scored a stunning strike in their 3-1 win against Qatar. The Black Cats were named as one of the clubs showing an interest in the youngster - but they look set to suffer disappointment after The Telegraph have now claimed Chelsea are ‘most likely to do a deal’ with Leverkusen as Xabi Alonso looks to raid his old club in a bid to secure an agreement for one of their brightest stars.

Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly open to talks over a deal for reported Sunderland and Nottingham Forest transfer target Ernest Poku.
German outlet Bild have claimed Bayer have ‘taken a surprise turn’ in their stance over the winger’s future and are now ready to open talks about a possible deal during the final six weeks of the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old scored six goals and provided ten assists in 49 appearances in all competitions last season and was expected to play a part in their push for success on several fronts during the new campaign.
However, Bayer are now said to be ready to part company with the 21-times capped Netherlands Under-21 international and would be ready to authorise a deal of around £22m. Sunderland and Forest have been suggested a possible suitors and Bild round off their report by claiming Poku is ‘set for a move to England’ before the summer transfer window comes to a close in early September.
