Arsenal have [confirmed](https://www.arsenal.com/news/christos-tzolis-signs-for-arsenal-axDM85b0dBUW) the signing of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge in a deal reported to be worth €40 million.
The 24-year-old left-sided attacker arrives as the replacement for Leandro Trossard, who completed his move to Besiktas earlier this week. The Greece international takes the number 17 shirt, most recently worn by Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Born in Thessaloniki, Tzolis came through the ranks at PAOK before joining Norwich City in 2021. His first spell in English football never really got going. Although he spent three years on the books at Carrow Road, two of those were out on loan with FC Twente and German second-tier side Fortuna Düsseldorf, who exercised an option to buy before immediately selling him on to Club Brugge.
That move has proved a masterstroke for everyone involved. Across two seasons in Belgium, Tzolis scored 43 goals and registered 45 assists in 108 appearances, helping Club Brugge lift the league title last season while earning widespread praise for his performances.
A return to England represents another significant step up, so whether he can reproduce those numbers in the Premier League remains to be seen. On paper, though, Arsenal have signed an exciting player entering his prime, and one who arrives well rested after missing out on this summer’s World Cup.
