The Greece international arrives after a 51-goal-contribution season and being named the Belgian Pro League’s Player of the Year.
Arsenal have completed the signing of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge as Mikel Arteta reshapes his attacking options following Leandro Trossard’s departure.
The 24-year-old has joined the Gunners on a long-term contract after Arsenal agreed a fee understood to be worth £34 million. The deal would represent a record sale for a Belgian Pro League club.
The Greece international operates predominantly from the left, where he can begin in a wide position before moving inside onto his stronger right foot. He has also featured as a number 10 and offers Arteta another player capable of operating across different areas of the forward line.
He heads to Arsenal off the back of a remarkable 2025/26 campaign in Belgium, where he racked up 17 goals and 23 assists in just 36 league games as Club Brugge clinched the title.
Across all competitions, Tzolis found the net 22 times last season, earning recognition as one of the most productive attackers in Belgian football.
This move marks a return to England for Tzolis, five years after his first Premier League stint with Norwich City.
Norwich brought him in from PAOK back in 2021, when he was seen as one of Greece’s brightest young talents. His first spell in England, though, coincided with a tough time for both him and the club.
A loan spell at FC Twente followed, before Tzolis rebuilt his career with Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany. His performances there paved the way for a permanent switch to Club Brugge in 2024, where his development kicked on over the next two seasons.
In his first season in Belgium, he scored 21 goals and provided 16 assists in 56 games, quickly becoming a key figure for Club Brugge.
He followed that up with another strong year, matching end product with the intensity needed to handle both domestic and Champions League football in a packed schedule.
Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko had already spoken openly about losing Tzolis before Arsenal the move had been officially announced.
Leko admitted the departure brought mixed emotions, but backed the winger to make an impact in North London.
“On one side I’m very happy for him, I’m very sad for me on one side because we are losing a top player,” Leko said.
“I’m convinced that he will have his minutes, that he will show also on highest level in Premier League and Champions League in Arsenal that is top player.”
A senior Greece international since 2020, Tzolis returns to the Premier League far more experienced than the teenager who first arrived at Norwich.
For Arteta, Tzolis offers another direct threat on the left to go with Gabriel Martinelli, and his ability to play through the middle adds even more flexibility up front.
His signing is part of Arsenal’s ongoing reshaping after Trossard’s departure, with Tzolis arriving as a younger replacement off the back of his best numbers yet in Belgium.
Now, the Gunners will be hoping Tzolis can carry that form into the Premier League and Champions League as the Gunners look to defend their title.
