LeBron James reportedly has his own idea of what the 2026 NBA season could look like, but his plans aren’t developing the way he envisioned.
The four-time NBA champion can play for any team he wants next season. However, with every passing day the same issue remains with James’ master plan as he holds up free agency.

Yahoo Sports insider Kevin O’Connor reveals that James has a clear vision for what his next team looks like. The only problem is that two of the players he wants to play with don’t appear to be available for trades.
Both Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving appear to be important pieces to the James puzzle after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.
Davis figures to be a key part of the Washington Wizards after AJ Dybantsa was the first pick in the draft. Meanwhile, Irving is still a valuable member with the Dallas Mavericks alongside young star Cooper Flagg.

How long will LeBron’s decision take?

Many NBA fans and media personalities are getting frustrated with LeBron’s “indecision,” including hot take specialists like Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith.
It’s truly unclear what it will take for LeBron to come to a decision at the moment, especially if O’Connor’s reporting is accurate. League commissioner Adam Silver revealed that the NBA is holding up scheduling for James’ decision.
Meanwhile, teams are likely jockeying to make moves based on the choice to James makes. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers all think they have a shot.
If Davis and Irving are truly part of LeBron’s plans though, the teams contending for his services might need to concede a lot in order to acquire them. That puts Dallas and Washington in the driver’s seat when it comes to negotiations.

The reality is that only one team can acquire James and his services though, and each day presents new information. Wednesday’s YouTube leaks with the Heat indicated that LeBron could strongly be considering a return to Miami.
The obvious choice remains Cleveland after growing up in Ohio and spending two separate stints with the Cavaliers. That leaves the NBA world in a stagnant position of waiting though, which is never fun, especially with several months remaining until the new season starts in October.
