Liverpool has announced that goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has signed a new contract at the club, keeping him at the club until 2029.
The 29-year-old joined the Reds last summer, and has served as backup to both Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili in the goalkeeping ranks at Anfield. Last season saw him make four appearances in total, including three Premier League outings, having been called upon during the Merseyside derby against Everton in April after an injury to Mamardashvili.
His deal had been due to expire next summer, but having now put pen to paper on a new contract, he will remain in place in Andoni Iraola's squad for the 2026/27 season and beyond, having traveled with Liverpool on its pre-season tour of the United States.
“I’m absolutely delighted, to be honest,” Woodman told the club's official website. “Off the back of last season, personally it was amazing for me and then to come back in pre-season and there be an offer for me from the club to stay here longer, I was made up.
“I’m just so happy that I could re-sign here and be a part of this amazing club.
“[I feel] pride and so many emotions, really. Last season I came in and did the role I was doing and then when I got the opportunity to play, especially the Palace game, it just felt like a real connection to the fans and just a massive understanding of them.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.

Reacting to the news on social media, Dominik Szoboszlai shared the picture of Woodman signing his new contract to his Instagram story, along with the caption: "Finally," while tagging the goalkeeper into the post.
Woodman played three times in the Premier League, having been called upon during the second half of the Merseyside derby at Everton. He would go on to start the subsequent 3-1 win at home to his former club Crystal Palace, before his final appearance of the campaign in the 3-2 defeat at Manchester United.

Outlining his aims for next season, Woodman added: “Just exactly the same as last year, really: to do everything I can in the role that I do every single day, because I might be called upon at any moment.

“Last season, I know it sounds crazy, but I was ready for that moment when it was at Everton. I worked all season just because I knew I might just have to play a small role, so that will be my goal again this season. It will just be to train and train and train until that moment comes.
“When it does come, I know I’ll be well prepared and ready for the moment.”
