Freddie Woodman has pledged his long-term future to Liverpool.
Woodman signed an initial two-year contract upon his arrival at Anfield last summer but has been rewarded for his contribution over the previous season.
The 29-year-old made his debut for the Reds in the Carabao Cup fourth round exit to Crystal Palace before being involved a further three times.
He was called into action unexpectedly during the first Merseyside derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium after Giorgi Mamardashvili suffered an in-game injury.
Woodman’s strong display in the win over Everton stood him in good stead for starting the next two games with no other senior goalkeepers available.
That included a home outing against boyhood club Crystal Palace which saw the former England under-21 international lauded by the Anfield faithful.
After extending his stay on Merseyside until summer 2029, Woodman admits that he is relishing the opportunity to be part of Andoni Iraola’s current plans.
He said: “I’m absolutely delighted, to be honest.
“Off the back of last season, personally it was amazing for me and then to come back in pre-season and there be an offer for me from the club to stay here longer, I was made up.
“I’m just so happy that I could re-sign here and be a part of this amazing club.
“[I feel] pride and so many emotions, really. Last season I came in and did the role I was doing.
“Then when I got the opportunity to play, especially the Palace game, it just felt like a real connection to the fans and just a massive understanding of them.
“Now I get the chance to stay here for longer and to be a part of it again is unbelievable, and me and my family are delighted.”
