Liverpool are reportedly considering a move to sign AS Roma star Manu Kone, but they face competition from Manchester United for his signature.
The Reds have had a quiet summer transfer window so far, signing Victor Munoz from Osasuna and Jeremy Jacquet, with their transfer outlay so far reaching £94.6m.
There is a lot more work to be done, however, if Andoni Iraola is going to start the 2026/27 Premier League season with a squad capable of challenging for major honours.
Iraola’s biggest job is to restore some semblance of identity to a team that had very little last season under Arne Slot. The supporters want to see more intensity and attacking impetus, but it will be difficult to sustain if Liverpool don’t make the signings needed.
The Spaniard arguably needs another centre-back, right-back, central midfielder and a top winger to feel confident that Liverpool will have the depth and quality needed to threaten Arsenal’s championship defence.
Liverpool are looking at Kone as a potential midfield arrival
Manchester United are “strongly” considering signing Carlos Baleba and Manu Kone, according to Sky Sports, but they are not alone in their appreciation of Kone, with Liverpool also admirers of the Frenchman.
According to a claim from Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool are ‘considering’ a move to sign Kone, and they have already made contact with his agents to explore a transfer to Anfield this summer.

Liverpool will have to beat Man United to his signature, and there is also strong interest from the Saudi Pro League.
According to a claim from Sky Sports CH, Al Ahli are serious about Kone too, and have made direct contact with Roma to explore the financial parameters of a deal to take him to the Saudi Pro League. Atletico Madrid are also interested.
The report states that Kone would prefer a move to the Premier League over La Liga, but hasn’t closed the door on a move to Saudi Arabia. Talks are underway with all interested parties, but it’s unclear, per this report, what the financial requirements are from Roma’s perspective.
Kone would be a welcome addition to the Liverpool midfield, especially after his performances at the World Cup with France.
