MLS side New England Revolution are reportedly in advanced talks to sign a former Liverpool winger as a designated signing.

New England Revolution in the MLS received the unique distinction of having their stadium as one of the host grounds of the FIFA World Cup this summer.
With MLS resuming following the extended international break, the Revolution appear keen to capitalise on that momentum by strengthening their squad – and their latest move suggests real intent.

According to The Athletic, New England Revolution are closing in on a deal to sign English winger Jack Harrison from Leeds United, with the 29-year-old set to arrive as a designated player.
The move would mark a return to the United States for Harrison, who first built his reputation in MLS with New York City FC before earning a switch to Manchester City and eventually making his name in English football.
While Harrison is best known for his time at Leeds, where he made 219 appearances and played a crucial role in their 2019–20 Championship-winning campaign, there is also a little-known Liverpool connection.
The winger briefly spent time in Liverpool’s youth setup as a child in the early 2000s before moving on to Manchester United’s academy and later continuing his development in the United States.
Though that spell at Liverpool was short and not formative in his career, it remains a notable footnote.
After helping Leeds establish themselves in the Premier League, he spent two seasons on loan at Everton and most recently had a stint with Fiorentina in Serie A, contributing one goal and three assists.
Fiorentina had an option to buy believed to be around £6 million (€7 million), but it seems the Serie A side did not decide to active that clause.
Now, a return to MLS offers him a chance to rediscover consistent form in a familiar environment. His previous stint with NYFC saw him play with the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Frank Lampard, and David Villa.
